Orchestral – Designed for the artist who plays primarily arco. Exceptional bow response. Even tonal balance from string to string. Can be played pizzicato with full fundamental tone and warm harmonics. Comes in Medium or Light.

Hybrid – Medium Tension. Designed for the player who plays a mixture of arco and pizzicato. Excellent pizzicato sustain and attack. Quick, accurate bow response. A universal choice for the player required to perform a broad range of musical styles.

Pizzicato – Medium Tension. Helicore Pizzicato bass strings are multi-stranded steel core strings that produce a brighter tone quality than the rest of the Helicore bass line. The groundbreaking core design produces strings that are very easy to play. Damping is reduced to create maximum sustain and “growl.”

D’Addario Kaplan Medium Tension 3/4 Set

Kaplan double bass strings are aimed at the most discerning orchestral musicians. Kaplan strings offer a rich tonal color palette and superb bowing response in a beautifully balanced set. The set provides clarity and warmth from low to high registers and allows versatility and control throughout the dynamic spectrum. The Kaplan Bass G string is titanium-wound, and the A and D strings are nickel-wound. The E string is stranded steel core/tungsten-wound strings.

Scaled to fit 3/4 size bass with a playing length of 41 3/4 inches (1060mm), medium tension strings are optimized for a majority of players.
