Enrico 1/2 size double bass with carved spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bass bag. It has been set up by BassWorks with D’Addario strings for easy playability.

This bass has been damaged around endpin in transit and repaired by Bassworks. Repair is guaranteed for 12 months. (Please see pic)

McLachlan, Ben-Adelaide, SA 2015 1/2 Travel Double Bass

A 1/2 sized double bass with a 104cm string length (3/4 bass string length) optimised for travel. It will either fit in a 1/2 size lightweight case or there is a detachable neck option and case. This idea started with a request from jazz bass player, Brett Hirst. We made him a bass and have continued to experiment with the idea. The current version pictured here is Peter’s favourite bass for gigs and travel.

The double bass has solid flamed maple back and sides and a solid close grained spruce top, ebony fingerboard, raised saddle, Glasser carbon endpin, marvin tailpiece, and a removable scroll.

The body and neck are supplied by the Christopher workshop.

King. Benjamin – Tianjin 2016 Solid Top Gamba model 1/8 – 3/4 Double Basses

There is a lot of experience in bass building from this workshop in Taijin, China. Many of the workers are former employees of the Shimro factory (St Antonio Instruments) and bring many years of expertise to the manufacture of stringed instruments.

1/8 to 3/4 Gamba shape double basses with a solid spruce top with plain laminated back and sides, ebony fingerboard and tail piece. Quality build and fittings. Includes an adjustable bridge, 10mm endpin with a screw tip, standard black cover, D ‘Addario helicore strings and French bow.

This bass is also available with a removable neck for the travelling musician in 3/4 or 1/2 size. $3400 or $4000 with bass and RN case.
