HQ Polycarbonate Double Bass Case – Brushed Silver

Made from a very strong laminated poly-carbonate material, this case is both attractively finished and lightweight at only 14.5kg.
Equipped with 6 wheels (4 on the side and 2 on the bottom) to make transportation easy.
The interior includes firm but spongy, high quality padding where it counts: around the lower bout, behind the shoulders and under the neck. It has 10 movable Velcro-backed pads that can be positioned to best suit your instrument.
There are two internal bow holders, one body retention strap and another to restrain the scroll when opening in an upright position.

DB Removable Neck Flight Case

3/4 size lightweight flight case for removable neck basses. Case has wheels and various lift straps. It is made by the DB factory that has made Double Bass lightweight cases for over 20 years.

ONLY available in Australia
For overseas customers. The case is Very expensive to send overseas. 2-4 times the cost of the case. You are welcome to get quotes from freight handlers in your country. Case size 134x50x75cm. Taking the case as extra luggage on a flight is generally very cheap (or free) from Australia, especially for professional musicians. Check in with musicians you know who may be touring in Australia. WOMADelaide is a large festival in March every year in Adelaide. There are many other events.

Customer Feedback : Just a quick bit of feedback on the new travel case. It’s excellent! Really handy and very easy to use. Also the removable neck conversion is fantastic. Really fast to set up, plus the adjustable action is incredibly handy.
I’ve done about 8 or 10 flights now and no dramas with the case. It’s easy to check in. Sits under 20kg. It even had a baggage handler drop a traps case on it with no damage.

Total case weight is 11.6 kg. Total weight with bass is 20-22kg depending on the instrument.

DB 3/4 Double Bass Flight Case

This is a Light-Weight Double Bass Flight Case, weighing approximately 20 kilograms with the Bass inside. It has wheels, an accessory pocket, a shoulder strap, and internal bow storage.
The weight of the case alone is 10 kg and fits most 3/4 size basses without a bag (unless the bag is very lightweight).
Internal measurements are: Upper bout 550mm, Lower bout 660mm, Length (not including endpin slot) 1880mm. Depth at the bridge point is 430mm.

These cases are made from moulded Styrofoam and have a cloth codura zip cover, with pockets and wheels.

To accurately measure place your bass against a wall and measure from the wall to the part of the bass required. For example place the bass so it is on the floor on its side. Place the bridge so it is touching the wall. Measure from the wall to the back of the bass. This will give the depth. Do all the other measurements in a similar way.

I travel regularly with my bass around the world and don’t think twice about taking it in this case. However, I never travel with a bass that is not fully insured and cannot be replaced. Air travel is always risky for a bass regardless of the case.

The problem with fibreglass trunks and air travel is that they are so heavy the handlers treat them roughly and if they start to fall they don’t risk personal injury to prevent it. Also the weight plus the stiffness of fibreglass means that when there is an impact it can be fatal to the instrument.

The bonus here with the Styrofoam case is that they are a fraction of the weight and tend to absorb the bumps. The interesting thing is that I have had no damage to my bass at all travelling with a light weight case over 10 years but I have had considerable damage to a number of basses when previously travelling with a fibreglass trunk. However, they do not have the structural rigidity of fibreglass if, for example, they were squashed between two containers.

The manufacturer says they have tested the point over the bridge and believe it will stand 65kg of pressure on it and that they estimate 70-80kg is likely but, of course, there are no guarantees.

TG Flight Case

These cases are made from cut and glued Styrofoam and have a cloth codura zip cover, with pockets and wheels.

It is a Light-Weight Bass Case. It has wheels, an internal accessory pocket, an external music pocket, a shoulder strap and internal bow storage.

Only available in Australia.

Full Size Measurements:

The internal measurements are: Full length 1950mm, Body length 1240mm, Upper Bout 585mm, Lower bout 720mm. The depth at the bridge is 490mm.

The external measurements are: Height 2120mm, Depth 560mm, Width 900mm

This case weighs approximately 11kg without a bass inside.

1/2 Size Measurements:

External dimensions of the ½ size bass case are 1760x740x500mm.
