Travelling with a light weight bass case.

The styrofoam bass cases are lightweight and much easier to travel with than the heavier fiberglass cases. The following are few tips on travelling with the lightweight case.

Because bass shapes vary so much the case is unlikely to fit your bass exactly. The best solution we have found is to use partially inflated balloons to fill the gaps.

Some of the cases have a flimsy neck strap. A piece of bubble wrap in 5 or 6 layers above the neck strap (between the strings and the top of the case) stops movement if the neck strap were to break.

It is a good idea to write instructions on the outside of the bass case. Fragile, Do not leave in the sun etc.

The bass case when standing upright can be forward tippy. It is best to store on its side or back.

The scroll should not be touching the bottom of the case and may need a layer or two of bubble wrap under the heel of the neck to lift the scroll so it is floating.
