Christopher removable neck basses

Travelling with the bass is always a challenge. In particular travelling by air is getting more and more restricted and expensive for double bassists. To make travelling with the bass easier, Christopher® has developed a double bass with a removable neck. As the makers of the Eminence bass, Christopher has much experience in making portable basses with a removable neck. The steel dovetail joint enables the neck to be removed or re-assembled within a few minutes.
Removing the neck could not be easier: First, you start with tuning down the strings some turns, so the bridge can be removed. Then, release the strings from the tailpiece (which can stay on the bass).
After loosening the neck screw, you slide the neck forward and store it (with the strings) in the neck bag. The well padded soft case for the Christopher® RN can be used for both the assembled and disassembled bass.

A flight hard case is also available for the Christopher® RN. The dimensions of the flight hard case are L 1400mm x W 813mm x H 560mm; the total weight, including instrument, is 27.5kg. Customed fully carved RN is available upon request.

The soundpost can get fixed by small and very lightweight foam blocks, which stick on the inside of back and top. They hold the soundpost securely even with strings off the bass. These foam blocks stay in the bass permanently, but can easily be removed and attached again for adjustments. Due to their very low weight, they virually have no dampening effect on the acoustic tone of the bass.
